Frankston Art Centre Residency
After attending APACA PAX 2016 the NT Dancers and our lighting designer/technical operator (provided by DEC) joined us for the residency at Frankston Art Centre where Gary connected with the local Indigenous Boonwurrung community at Baluk Arts. Members of Baluk Arts attended our performance and provided us with a welcome to country before the performance began.
We conducted a community dance workshop which was really well supported with both young dancers and non- dancers from the local Frankston area attending. The feedback provided to Frankston Art Centre included ‘it was fantastic, very inspiring and “more Zen than Yoga”! Many of the workshop attendees came along the next night to our performance.
We performed to a full house at Cube 37 at Frankston Art Centre on Saturday September 3rd and the feedback from the audience was great. The audience really engaged with the performance and contributed to the Q & A session that Gary and the dancers held after the performance.
Tammy Ryan the Co-ordinator of Programming Arts & Culture at Frankston shared this audience member feedback with us:
