Journey with us as we continue to celebrate Gary Lang’s legacy whilst creating his next work Bukuminkum.

Bukuminkum, a work affectionately dubbed Blak Giselle is Lang’s latest artistic innovation and looks to deconstruct the colonial ballet archetype using First Nations storytelling to create fresh relevance for all Australians. 

This production is Lang’s most ambitious work to date, imagining 16 Senior Indigenous ballet dancers, 16 senior non-Indigenous ballet dancers, and 8 Yolngu performers. It is an entirely new dance form which will see Lang’s vision of realising his choreography en pointe for the first time in his career.
